The ongoing activities of the BON are co-financed by funds from the so-called “entity-specific subsidy” which is intended for tasks related to ensuring that persons with disabilities can fully participate in the admission process for studies and doctoral schools, in education at studies and doctoral schools, or in conducting research. The subsidy is awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The amount of the specific grant awarded to VIZJA University in 2025: PLN 1,841,300.00.
The Office for Persons with Disabilities is responsible for planning and accounting for activities funded by the specific-purpose grant.
With the support of a specific grant, BON carries out the following activities:
It implements adjustments to the educational process (adaptations to classes, exams and materials) for over 500 students with special needs, including those with disabilities.
It organises individual and group foreign language courses adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities, particularly blind people.
It organises individual and group sports and leisure activities tailored to the needs of persons with disabilities.
It employs and coordinates the work of 29 teaching assistants (both on-campus and online).
It employs and coordinates the work of 10 sign language interpreters (both on-site and online).
It runs a virtual sign language interpreter service, accessible via the University’s website.
It purchases and provides access to specialist software designed to support learning and the adaptation of materials.
It purchases access to specialist databases.
It purchases specialist equipment, support technologies and assistive technologies.
It rents out specialist equipment.
It provides advice on adapting the educational process and ensuring accessibility at the University.
It organises training and awareness-raising activities on ensuring accessibility for persons with special needs, including those with disabilities.
It adapts the University’s infrastructure, lecture theatres, seminar rooms, sports facilities and other premises to meet the needs of people with disabilities and special needs.
It supports efforts to ensure the digital accessibility of websites and the content they contain.
