Architectural Accessibility
VIZJA University Main Building
We ensure architectural accessibility through:
- the University building’s accessible, barrier-free surroundings allow for easy and quick access to the nearest public transport stop, and are friendly to wheelchair users, the blind, people with strollers, and those using bicycles and scooters;
- accessible entrance to the building, sufficiently wide entrance doors, consistent floor level, intercom at the entrance, and the ability to request assistance from a receptionist;
- providing elevators adapted to the needs of persons with special needs, marked (Braille) and sufficiently wide to enable people using wheelchairs, crutches or other health difficulties to reach every level of the building;
- providing wide and spacious circulation routes, corridors, halls, etc.;
- designing a simple, logical and clear communication system;
- ensuring appropriate signage for visually impaired and blind people, e.g. by marking key rooms and passageways with Braille signs;
- ensuring that the University’s organizational units are free from architectural barriers, clearly and simply marked, in particular those responsible for supporting people with special needs, including people with disabilities;
- parking spaces in the University’s underground car park – 4 designated spaces for persons with disabilities, appropriately marked, with the possibility of direct, barrier-free access from the car park to each level of the University building;
- providing training rooms, computer rooms, lecture halls, sports halls and other rooms where education is carried out free from architectural barriers by ensuring access to the above-mentioned rooms for persons with mobility difficulties.
Communication and information accessibility
- The University provides services using various communication channels, including email, telephone, SMS text messages, MS Teams, website or by using remote online access to the interpreter service via websites and applications: Connect with a sign language interpreter
- The University provides access to devices, programs and teaching aids, including portable induction loops, to support education and communication with hard of hearing and deaf people.
- The University will provide (where possible), at the request of a person with special needs, including a person with a disability, alternative means of communication with the University’s administrative and teaching staff and other persons involved in the organisation of education and the implementation of the University’s educational offer.
- The University provides blind persons with the opportunity to use an information and navigation system that supports navigation and reaching the courtyard and the University building from the nearest public transport stop, and then to the Office for Persons with Disabilities and key departments serving students.
